Hurricane Katrina:  Help for Kidney and Transplant Patients

www.kidney..org   home page lists resources and information for dialysis and kidney patients  affected by Katrina - it is being updated regularly...NKF efforts to assist and help are in progress... 
 
For all transplant recipients needing services:  
 The University of Alabama-Birmingham Transplant Program has established toll-free resource "Hotlines" for patients affected by the hurricane in need of transplant services.  The hotlines are for any recipient affected by Katrina that is in the general area of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee. 
 
Calls will be handled by transplant coordinators, and will be triaged and forwarded as appropriate. 
 
KIDNEY/LIVER/PANCREAS TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS:

The University of South Alabama Medical Center Pharmacy will supply medications for any transplant  patient who needs assistance at this time. The patient can call our toll free number and the nurse on call will give instructions to them. They can pick up the medications at the hospital, if they have a way of getting to Mobile.
