Directed Donation

Donors or donor families can request their donation be offered first to any transplant candidate living in Nevada under a procedure known as "directed donation".  It is specifically permitted under Nevada state laws governing anatomical gifts.  To receive a directed donation the recipient would have to be formally accepted for a transplant by a transplant center and would have to be medically compatible (blood type, size, etc.) with the donor.

Assembly Bill 238, which establishes provisions governing directed organ donations by Nevada residents was passed unanimously in the 1999 legislative session.

It is our hope to help the many patients in Nevada that are waiting for their life-saving organ transplant.  You can help save your neighbor's life by requesting your "Gift of Life" be offered first to a resident of  Nevada.

"Please give the 'Gift of Life' to a fellow Nevadan.  Your organ and tissue donation will provide new hope to a Nevada family in need."
