More than $27,000 Raised for the Two Local Beneficiaries To Date
RENO, Nev. (Feb. 21 2007) — Grubb & Ellis|NCG, northern Nevada’s full-service commercial real estate firm, and the City of Reno have teamed up once again to bring the 3rd annual Charity Raft Race to the Truckee River Whitewater Park as a kick-off to the annual Reno River Festival, now in its fourth year. The raft race, set for May 11, 2007, invites local businesses, community organizations and community leaders to come together to raise money for two local charities, the Truckee River Foundation and The Transplant Network. To date, the event has raised more than $27,000 for the two charities and hopes to make its largest contribution yet for 2007.
The beneficiaries of the 2007 event include the Truckee River Foundation, a non-profit organization that directly benefits the Truckee River, and the Transplant Network, a non-profit organization committed to saving the lives of transplant patients. Charity contributions since the inaugural event in 2005 have aided the two local organizations in several significant endeavors. The Transplant Network has used the funds to assist two transplant patients, both whom have since received their needed transplants and are now recovering. The Truckee River Foundation launched its “Stay Afloat Safety Fair” which provided free river safety and kayak instructions to youth in the community two years running.
“The Charity Raft Race is a unique opportunity for the business community to step outside of the boardroom and on to the river for a fun afternoon that not only lends aid to two local charity groups, but supports downtown Reno’s redevelopment and revitalization efforts,” said John Pinjuv, president of the local Grubb & Ellis affiliate. “We hope that this event continues to grow in popularity each year and entices more local businesses and organizations to get involved to support not only these charities but also our region’s commitment to building a better Reno.”
Grubb & Ellis| NCG and the City of Reno are actively securing sponsors to purchase rafts in the exclusive race. The Grubb & Ellis Charity Raft Race is held May 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Truckee River Whitewater Park in downtown Reno. Raft sponsorships are $1,250 of which $1,000 is tax deductible. Companies that participate receive six spots to race down the Truckee River in addition to corporate recognition at the event and a Bar-B-Que lunch following the race. Sponsorships are limited to 25 rafts and will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
