"Giving Life as a Gift"

Created by the students at Galena High School

Marla Pavik - Galena High School

“ This is a paradise for people and if you donate,
you can prolong the lives of others so they can live to see this paradise as well.”

Robin Jesse - Galena High School

“ Above we see all that we may consider light, life, happiness, love, and below the dark,
death, fear, and sadness.  The two converge in the center, along with the breath, the human experience.  Here life and death are one fluid motion, never separate from each other.  The center is where we find ourselves, in the present moment, experiencing both.  light and dark as one.”

Russell Ripsom - Galena High School

“The apple represents both eternal life and rebirth. whereas the birds represent both
death and divinity. Ask yourself what your final goal is and you will find a reason to life
depicted in the upper right corner which is heaven.”

Elizabeth Blauvelt - Galena High School

“The tears from the eye represent the sadness of death. The tears nurture life, which the flower represents. That then generates the heart from the left side, which starts to revive the right side.
The heart releases an energy that springs into life, which is all a part of our cycle.”

McKenna Howden - Galena High School

“This painting was meant to show the impact of not donating organs.
This is from the perspective of the person who doesn’t receive the organ.
It is all the thoughts that might be running through their heads.  The Chinese characters
mean ‘ be free.’ It is meant to free the soul of worries and bad thoughts.”

Erik Winkle - Galena High School

“The father and daughter are scared about the dying of the mother whose
shadow hand is seen reaching out for help. The painting is a plea for help.”
